Taking the fabulous scenery of the Lousã Mountain, with its wonderful villages of shale and sweet as the honey that is produced there, this owes its name to the positive difference of more than a kilometer.
We were in June 2001 when we first held the Louzan1000 race. After a break, in 2014 and much thanks to the Mountanha Clube Trail Running, this race returned in all its splendor.
It is held every 2 years, and the next edition will be in 2018.
It is a race restricted to only the best, with a limit of only 150 people.
The Mélia Palácio da Lousã, known for its ancient history, dating back to the 19th century and crosses with the Napoleonic Invasions, marks the starting line of this race that crosses the Serra to its highest point, the Trevim, which in addition to its geodesic landmark, marks the union of three counties: Lousã, Góis and Castanheira de Pera.
On clear days, the view from the point of arrival makes the effort of each kilometer traveled, allowing a view of the sea, Serra da Estrela and Serra da Gardunha.
